Who we’re looking for

An opportunity has arisen to appoint 1 social worker to a team of 7 social workers for 2 year fixed term contract in a newly created schools team.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate their experience and abilities in respect of working in partnership with children, young people, families and partner agencies. They will need to evidence experience of working with vulnerable children and their families, and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form. They would need to be able to work individually and as part of a team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and their families in Knowsley.

  • Carrying out timely assessments on children, young people and families in accordance with the Framework for Assessment and working together guidance.

  • Ensuring assessments and planning for children and young people actively promote the participation and engagement of all relevant agencies, the child/young person and their family.

  • Prepare/formulate care plans for children and young people which take account of their views wishes in the implementation of those care plans.

About Knowsley Children’s Services

Knowsley is the smallest borough in Merseyside, covering only 33.40 sq miles, but it doesn’t come without its challenges.

With more than 30% of children living in income-deprived families, an average of 350 children on child in need plans, 200 children on a child protection plan and 300 children being looked after there is always a lot of work to be done to support our children and families.
