Tracey

Tracey is the Principal Social Worker, who joined Knowsley Council in March 2015 as Head of Service for Children in Need and Child Protection.

I trained to become a social worker at Liverpool John Moores University and qualified as a social worker in 1996.

My first student placement was in Knowsley in the Halewood social work team.

My experience to date includes Team Manager of an assessment team and a Team Manager of a Children Looked After team. I have also managed a Safeguarding Unit but predominately all my experience has been in child protection.

I joined Knowsley Council in March 2015 as Head of Service for Children in Need and Child Protection and I have held the role of Principal Social Worker at Knowsley Council for the last four years.

Bethany

Bethany has recently joined the council as a Social Worker.

She was concerned that she wasn’t progressing in her previous role working for another organisation and hadn’t yet started her ASYE programme.

She was managing a high case load which meant her work-life balance wasn’t balanced!

“I already knew people working at Knowsley and had only ever heard positive things about working here, particularly about the Children Looked After team.  I had a lot of court and adoption experience and coming to Knowsley has enabled me to further develop my skills and experience in this area.”

Vicki

Vicki is an Advanced Practitioner, who has worked at Knowsley Council for ten years.

“I love the fact that it’s a small authority so I’ve always known people, including senior managers and councillors and I’ve been able to share my views. I feel that my views are listened to and considered and have seen changes as a result of being listened to.

Since the improvement journey began I have been issued with new IT equipment that has enabled me to do my work much more efficiently and there is a focus on making Knowsley a good place for Social Workers to do their job, which means we are supported to do our best for the children and families that we work with. Knowsley has also offered me opportunities to learn and develop new skills in areas of work that I enjoy.

I like the variety that I have in my job; from working with families, other professionals, and supporting newly qualified social workers. I enjoy the challenge of making a real difference for the children and ensuring that they are safe and supported to reach their full potential.”
